Puber-Tea

For Mothers and Daughters (ages 8-10)

Much more than just pimples and periods. An engaging 2½ hour class that covers the fundamental physical and emotional changes associated with the onset of puberty. The class also covers hormones, genes, hygiene, nutrition, period preparation and much more…

Puber-Tea helps create a sense of normalcy versus shame and embarrassment about this next stage of development. It sets the stage to help girls embrace and celebrate this transition and realize they’re not alone with their feeling and concerns.

The course creates a bond between parents and children, making transitioning into adolescence much easier. Upon completion, parents feel more confident and prepared for future conversations.

Where Babies Come From

For Parents and Tweens (ages 10-12)

Boys & Girls are taught separately

A 2 ½ hour, age-appropriate and informative class that clearly and concisely addresses reproduction by generating an open dialogue between parents and tweens in a safe and engaging environment.

It's normal for this age group to be curious about reproduction, and questions about sex can potentially be challenging to address. Where Babies Come From helps ease that discomfort and provides parents with the language they need for future conversations. Due to the parent-tween connection established during the class, tweens will feel comfortable going to their parents with questions and concerns-- instead of to the internet. (The discussion regarding sexual intercourse is brief and is discussed within the context of a married couple preparing for a child.)

Note: Other methods of parenthood are addressed.

The class concludes with a powerful interactive activity where the tweens receive the tools they'll need for having healthy relationships in the future. It also addresses consent, boundaries and the importance of having a strong voice.

Guy Talk

For Parents and Sons (ages 9-10)

Much more than just pimples and smelly armpits. This 2½ hour class covers physical and emotional changes, hormones, genes, hygiene, nutrition, male reproductive anatomy and much more... The focus of the class is to help boys establish good hygiene habits and to foster a sense of normalcy around puberty.

The information presented helps parents and sons feel more comfortable with puberty-related changes in a fun and engaging manner. Participating in the class with their sons helps parents feel more prepared for future conversations, and the tweens feel more comfortable approaching their parents with questions and concerns.

Puber-Tween

For Parents & Tweens (ages 10-12)

Boys & Girls are taught separately

A 2 ½ hour class for parents and tweens who have not taken any puberty classes in the past.

Puber-Tween is designed for older tweens to help them feel at ease with the changes they are currently experiencing. This interactive class helps create a sense of normalcy and ensures the tweens receive medically accurate information.

Puber-Tween addresses physical and emotional changes, hormones, genes, nutrition and reproductive anatomy. The girls' class focuses on preparation for periods (girls make a puberty kit in class).

Puber-Tween creates a bond between parents and tweens, making transitioning into adolescence much easier. After the class, parents feel more confident and prepared for future conversations, and tweens are more willing to go to their parents with their questions and concerns.

Rites of Passage

For Parents & Tweens (ages 10-12)

Boys & Girls are taught separately

Note: Parents can either take the four-session series or individual modules.

A four-session, interactive class that addresses the challenging questions tweens face during puberty in a fun and engaging manner. Rites of Passage prepares tweens for adolescence by generating an open dialogue with their parents and helps them develop a sense of normalcy about the changes and challenges of puberty.

This class includes all of the content from Puber-Tween, Self-Esteem & Social Media, and Where Babies Come From.

The first class in the series is parents-only and covers the course outline, Q & A and the current statistical state of youth in the United States. This session helps parents understand the importance of all the topics covered in the three other sessions and how it will help prepare their child for the middle school experience.

In Rites of Passage, parents receive the foundation and necessary tools to continue open conversations with their children now and in the future. The class's open dialogue creates a strong bond whereby the parent becomes a safe source for their tweens' and teens' questions and concerns, versus outside sources.

The Bridge

For Parents and Teens (ages 12-14)

The Bridge provides safe passage into the middle school years and beyond.

A two-session class that addresses parent/tween communication, self-esteem & social media, reproductive anatomy and the topic of sexual intercourse, sexually transmitted infections, establishing healthy relationships, consent, boundaries, the importance of having a strong voice, and much more…

The topics covered will help parents and teens adjust and succeed during middle school. With this information, teens will feel more empowered and prepared to succeed, and parents will feel more equipped for future conversations.

The middle school years can be the most challenging, with peer pressure and external and internal stressors. The Bridge helps parents and tweens navigate these challenges and hone the skill to communicate openly and honestly.

Self-Esteem & Social Media

For Parents & Tweens (ages 10-12)

A 2 ½ hour interactive and informative class that addresses the issues of self-esteem, peer pressure & social media by generating an open dialogue between parents and tweens in a fun and engaging environment.

This experiential course helps both parents and tweens understand the challenges of social media and its impact on the tweens' self-esteem. A powerful class activity sets the stage for an informative discussion, giving parents insight into their children’s social media world and challenges.

Young people today face pressures from peers and media (TV, print or online) that can affect their self-esteem and self-worth. This class gives parents tools to adequately deal with those external pressures and help create a strong internal foundation for their children now and in the future.
